Accessible Information and Communication Support

We are committed to making sure everyone can access our services and communicate with us in a way that works for them.

Some people need information in a specific format, or extra support to communicate with us. This may be because of a disability, sensory impairment, learning disability, dementia, neurodivergence, anxiety, or another reason.

Accessibility on emedgroup.co.uk

EMED Group makes available the UserWay Website Accessibility Widget that is powered by a dedicated accessibility server. The software allows our website to improve its compliance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1).

Enabling the Accessibility Menu

The website accessibility menu can be enabled either by hitting the tab key when the page first loads or by clicking the accessibility menu icon that appears at the corner of the page. After triggering the accessibility menu, please wait a moment for it to load in its entirety.

Disclaimer

EMED Group continues to work to constantly improve the accessibility of our site and services, believing that it is our collective moral obligation to allow seamless, accessible, and unhindered use for people with disabilities.

In an ongoing effort to improve and remediate accessibility issues, we also regularly scan our website with UserWay’s Accessibility Scanner to identify and fix every possible accessibility barrier.

Despite our efforts to make all pages and content on our website fully accessible, some content may not have yet been fully adapted to the strictest accessibility standards. This may be a result of not having found or identified the most appropriate technological solution.

  • needing information explained clearly or repeated

  • needing extra time or reassurance

  • difficulty hearing, seeing or understanding information

  • support with anxiety, dementia or cognitive impairment

  • help communicating by phone or in person

We will record this information so our teams are aware and can make reasonable adjustments to support you.

How We Support You

Our colleagues are trained to recognise and respond to different communication needs. We aim to:

  • communicate clearly and respectfully

  • make reasonable adjustments wherever possible

  • work with carers, families and advocates

  • ensure information is shared appropriately so care is delivered safely and with dignity

Feedback, Concerns and Complaints

We want to know if we get things right and if we don’t.

Our complaints process is accessible, and we welcome feedback from people with information and communication needs. If you need support to provide feedback or make a complaint, please let us know and we will help.

Continuous Improvement

We regularly review feedback, complaints and incidents to help us improve how we communicate and support people. We also work with patient groups, Healthwatch and voluntary sector organisations to learn and improve our services.
