We’re sorry, it looks like EMED doesn’t provide non-emergency patient transport in your area. But don’t worry, there are still options available. Below you’ll find guidance to help you access the right support for your journey to hospital or clinic appointments.

Why am I seeing this page?

You’re seeing this page because our Find Your Transport tool didn’t recognise your GP practice as being within one of the areas that we provide transport services. This is usually because another provider is responsible for delivering the service where you live.

What can I do next?

1. Check who provides NEPTS in your area

To find out who manages patient transport where you live, visit your local NHS website and search for ‘Non Emergency Patient Transport’ or speak to your GP surgery. They’ll be able to direct you to the correct provider and explain how to book.

2. Consider the Healthcare Travel Costs Scheme (HTCS)

Did you know that if you’re not eligible for patient transport but receive certain benefits or have a low income, you might be able to claim back travel costs through the NHS Healthcare Travel Costs Scheme?

You could be reimbursed for:

  • Public transport fares
  • Mileage if you travel by car
  • Parking costs in some cases

Find out more about HTCS here.

3. Ask about local support options

If you’re not eligible for NHS-funded transport, there may still be local services available to help you get to and from your appointments. Some areas offer:

  • Community transport schemes
  • Volunteer driver services
  • Charitable transport support

Ask your GP surgery, local council or hospital for more details about what’s available locally.
