At EMED Group, we’re proud of the dedication and care our colleagues show every single day. Our Shining Stars scheme is our way of recognising those who go the extra mile – the ones who bring our values to life and deliver something truly special.

For January, we’re shining a light on some outstanding individuals who’ve gone above and beyond – take a bow, team…

Mary McCormack & Hannah Ford, Salisbury

Nominated by Nigel Grant

Mary and Hannah were recognised for their incredible professionalism and resilience when transporting an end-of-life patient to Salisbury Hospice. During the journey, the patient’s condition sadly deteriorated and upon arrival, the doctor confirmed the patient had passed away. Despite their understandable distress – this being the first time either crew member had encountered such a situation – Mary and Hannah showed remarkable strength and compassion. Offered downtime to recover emotionally, they chose instead to continue their duties, not wanting their remaining patients to face any delays. Their maturity and dedication in such challenging circumstances are truly inspiring and a genuine credit to the team.

Raymond Tomkiss & Lydia Humphreys, Shropshire

Nominated by George Bowen

Raymond and Natasha stepped up bravely and proactively in a critical moment in Shrewsbury, when they spotted a woman dangerously hanging over the side of a bridge. Quick-thinking Raymond jumped out immediately to engage and calm the distressed woman, while Natasha swiftly called emergency services. Despite initial confusion from emergency responders, the crew managed the situation expertly, keeping the woman warm, safe and secure until paramedics arrived. Even then, Raymond and Natasha stayed committed, ensuring the woman received care and was safely transferred home. Their decisive actions undoubtedly prevented tragedy, demonstrating exceptional courage and compassion.

Simon Gough & Chloe Hall, Worcester

Nominated by Fay Downes

Simon and Chloe showed outstanding initiative and kindness during an unexpected roadside incident between Worcester and Hereford. After stopping at a pub to assist their patient, who needed a comfort break, the crew found themselves in the midst of a vehicle collision involving a mother and two young children. Simon immediately sprang into action, directing traffic safely around the incident, while Chloe ensured their patient was comfortable and well cared-for inside the pub. Both crew members then worked together with the landlady and members of the public to keep everyone safe and calm until police arrived. Their quick thinking, leadership and genuine compassion in managing multiple priorities showcased exactly why they are deserving Shining Stars.

Congratulations to Our January Shining Stars!

On being recognised as Shining Stars, individuals receive a gift voucher and a Shining Star certificate to commemorate their outstanding achievements. Additionally, all award recipients will be invited to a special annual event dedicated to celebrating their successes.
