EMED is celebrating two important achievements after EMED North and EMED Midlands were both rated ‘Good’ by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
The reports were published on 15 and 16 October 2026 respectively. Both services received a ‘Good’ rating overall and were rated ‘Good’ across each of the CQC’s five key questions: safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led.
The results reflect the commitment of colleagues who support patients every day, as well as the teams working behind the scenes to maintain safe services, strengthen quality and governance and respond to feedback and learning.
Recognition for patient-centred care
At EMED Midlands, the CQC found that patient outcomes were consistently good and that feedback from patients confirmed this. The report noted that the service assessed people’s mobility, health, communication and support requirements so that transport arrangements reflected individual needs. It also recognised collaborative working with healthcare providers, commissioners and other partners.
At EMED North, the CQC found effective systems and processes for delivering safe, high-quality care. Inspectors highlighted appropriate risk assessment and escalation, relevant training, clean and well-maintained vehicles and equipment and care tailored to people’s individual needs and preferences.
Thank you to our colleagues
These ratings belong to every colleague who contributed, from frontline crews and control teams to operational, quality, fleet, training, people and support functions. Their professionalism, care and determination have made a real difference for patients and partners.
The reports also give EMED valuable learning to build on. We will continue to focus on improvement, act on the areas identified by the CQC and support colleagues to deliver safe, reliable and compassionate care.
A huge congratulations and thank you to everyone involved in both services.
