At EMED Group, our values shine brightest through the actions of our people. Every day, our teams demonstrate unwavering dedication to our patients and the business, and sometimes, they truly go above and beyond. Today, we’re proud to celebrate October’s Shining Stars – individuals whose compassion, quick thinking and selflessness have made a remarkable impact.

Rebecca Brand, Swindon

“Professionalism in the face of crisis.”

Nominated by Diane Curphy, Rebecca showed incredible composure and empathy in a highly stressful situation. While transporting a patient to the GWH, Rebecca encountered a member of the public harming herself with a knife. Acting swiftly and safely, Rebecca and the carer approached the individual and offered reassurance while contacting emergency services. Her calm professionalism earned high praise from SWAST and reflects her dedication to patient care and public safety.

Alan Robinson, Blyth

“Stepping up to lead.”

Nominated by Dean Laws, Alan has exemplified true leadership and teamwork. Despite the absence of an operations manager in Durham, Alan stepped in to support the team while continuing to manage his own site. He has also assisted with recruitment efforts in Fife and guided team leaders, demonstrating reliability and a willingness to go the extra mile. Alan’s dedication to his colleagues and the company values is nothing short of inspiring.

Ashley Grantham – Worcester

“Swift actions that prevented disaster.”

Nominated by Fay Downes, Ashley displayed exceptional quick thinking when he noticed a vehicle on fire on the M42. Stopping to help, he moved the driver to safety and extinguished the fire before it could escalate. His courageous actions prevented further harm and minimised disruption, showcasing his commitment to safety and care for others.

Rebecca Johnson – Blyth

“Selfless support for dementia patients.”

Nominated by Alan Robinson, Rebecca’s compassion led her to take personal initiative in raising money for dementia patients at NSECH’s elderly care ward. Recognising the need for activity supplies, Rebecca organised fundraising to purchase arts and crafts materials, bringing comfort and joy to the patients. Her selfless efforts exemplify the caring spirit that drives EMED.

Lydia Humphreys – Shrewsbury

“Teamwork in the face of challenges.”

Nominated by Paul Francis, Lydia went out of her way to support a colleague during a difficult night shift in control. Despite finishing her journeys early, she returned to base and volunteered her time to assist with calls and planning during a new contract launch. Lydia’s willingness to step in when it was needed most highlights her teamwork and dedication.

Upon being recognised as Shining Stars, individuals receive a gift voucher and a Shining Star certificate to commemorate their outstanding achievements. Additionally, all award recipients will be invited to a special annual event dedicated to celebrating their successes.
