Every month, we celebrate colleagues who go above and beyond for patients and for one another – people who stay calm under pressure, offer support when it’s needed most and remind us what care really looks like.

September’s Shining Stars are an incredible example of teamwork, compassion and courage in the face of challenge.

💛 Chase Michael and Stephen Clark, Burntwood
While refuelling their ambulance, Chase and Stephen were alerted to a member of the public in distress. They immediately stepped in to help and recognised that the man was showing signs of a heart attack. When his condition worsened, they began CPR and worked alongside paramedics for as long as it took, offering vital support and professionalism throughout.

💙 Joseph Stevens, Luke Hopkins and Megan Pugh, Bridgend
💚 Kristian Jackson, Calan Gardener and Leonie Jones, Gloucester
Two EMED teams came together for an exceptionally complex journey involving a young person who needed urgent specialist care many miles away. Over a long and challenging 15-hour journey, they showed remarkable resilience, compassion and collaboration, working together to get the patient safely to the care they needed.

💛 Steven Davies, Shrewsbury
Steven’s calm leadership and willingness to mentor new starters have made a real difference within his team. Always reliable, professional and engaged, he’s supported colleagues, shared knowledge and demonstrated what consistency and commitment look like every day.

💚 Adam Rimmell, Wellington
When operational pressures hit, Adam stepped up, taking on extra responsibilities and helping to keep services running smoothly. His proactive attitude, steady leadership and focus on supporting both colleagues and patients made a huge difference during a particularly demanding period.

💙 Sophie Lavender, Burntwood
Sophie showed immense professionalism and compassion when a patient went into cardiac arrest. She worked closely with her crew partner and emergency responders, while also supporting the patient’s family with care and calm reassurance. Her empathy that day left a lasting impression.

💛 Ellie Morgan, Burntwood
When faced with a sudden medical emergency, Ellie acted quickly and with composure. She carried out CPR, supported paramedics on scene and cared for the patient’s family with kindness and professionalism. Her decision to carry on with her shift afterwards, putting others first, spoke volumes about her dedication.

Each of these colleagues, and the many others nominated this month, remind us what it means to be part of EMED. Their care, courage and compassion shine through in everything they do.

Congratulations and thank you to all our September Shining Stars 💛
