How EMED Group branched out into uncharted territory: Three of its four divisions are now actively deployed in Surrey from what was a standing start, with no previous activity in the region.
Back in April, it was reported that EMED Group had launched two non-emergency patient transport service (NEPTS) contracts in partnership with NHS Surrey Heartlands Integrated Care System. This marked the conclusion of a procurement process initiated in April 2023.
The new non-emergency patient transport service from EMED in Surrey is specifically designed for eligible individuals with higher-level mobility requirements, providing them with the assistance they need to reach their healthcare appointments.
Bringing a wealth of experience and expertise into the critical role of patient transport within our communities, EMED leverages bespoke vehicles, highly trained staff and advanced protocols to ensure the highest standards of safety, care and professionalism for all service users.
EMED Group’s operations in Surrey are extensive, serving outpatient appointments, admissions, day case attendances, and renal dialysis treatments across various care settings. With over 140,000 patient journeys anticipated annually, the service will be delivered by EMED Patient Care from its main bases near Redhill, Addlestone and Guildford, with a dedicated team of over 110 crew members and 65 ambulances.
Following hot on the heels of the successful deployment of its Patient Care division services, EMED launched into the community with SEND services through Community Care, offering transport solutions to meet the specific needs of local authorities, schools and children. Finally, on 1st May 2024, Safe Care deployed its secure mental health transport to provide urgent and non-urgent 24/7 secure mental health transport for patients across the region.
In the week of 1st May, EMED delivered over 2,300 patient transport journeys alone, with that number set to grow exponentially over the coming months as the contract settles following the launch.
Of the extensive mobilisation into a brand new geographical region for the business, EMED Group’s CEO Craig Smith said:
“Our expansion into this new geographical area marks a significant milestone for EMED. It represents a pivotal moment as we extend our services from three of our four divisions into this community for the first time. We are incredibly excited about the opportunities that lie ahead as we embark on this journey of growth and development in the region.
Launching these services reflects our unwavering commitment to providing comprehensive healthcare solutions that meet the diverse needs of the community. We understand that every individual deserves access to high-quality care that is conveniently located and tailored to their specific needs. By bringing these divisions to this new area, we aim to bridge the gap in healthcare services and ensure that our community has access to the specialised care they require.
Over the coming weeks and months, we will work diligently to grow and develop our footprint in this region.”
EMED’s mission is to support the well-being of communities by enabling access to health and care services for those who need them most…
